Overview of the unit

RiverLy, part of the INRAE Lyon-Grenoble Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes Center, is a multidisciplinary research and development unit focused on the functioning of hydrosystems.

It brings together expertise in ecology, microbiology, ecotoxicology, environmental chemistry, hydrology, and hydraulics.

We develop approaches that span all levels of biological organization — from cells to organism communities — and across the various spatial scales that structure hydrosystems — from microsites to large watersheds. This allows us to better understand the quality, functioning, and dynamics of hydrosystems.

RiverLy’s research aims to:

  • assess and predict the impacts of human activities and climate change on hydrosystems,
  • prioritize actions to restore and conserve our aquatic environments,
  • anticipate heightened or emerging risks in the coming decades.
